Irish Ninja headed to the Big Apple

RailHawks fan favorite goalkeeper Akira Fitzgerald has gotten the call that every lower division soccer player dreams of.  Major League Soccer has come calling and our Irish Ninja has inked a deal with 2015 MLS expansion side New York City FC.

Fitzgerald made 19 appearances for the RailHawks in 2014, earning five shutouts for Carolina.  In open letter to RailHawks supporters, Akira thanked players, coaches, and fans for their support through 6 years with the RailHawks U23s and senior side.

“I will always remember the 309 section for their unwavering support and the memorable moments of celebrating goals and wins in the section with you all.”

— Akira Fitzgerald
