US Open Cup

US Soccer announced today potential third round pairings for the US Open Cup. Should the Carolina RailHawks beat the USASA's Milwaukee Bavarians in their 2nd round Open Cup match on July 26th, the Cary USL-1 team is set to host Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer on Sunday, July 15th at 5pm at SAS Soccer Park in Cary. The 3rd round ties are generally scheduled for Tuesday, July 10th but Chicago is scheduled to play Toronto FC in ESPN2's Thursday MLS Game of the Week on July 12th so Chicago's 3rd round Open Cup fixture will be delayed until the following Sunday.

Chicago has struggled this season in MLS to a 4-6-2 record through this past weekend's matches. On Wednesday, the Fire relieved Coach Dave Sarachan of his managerial responsibilities and promoted 10 year Fire assistant coach Denis Hamlett to the head coach position.

A full look at potential 3rd round matchups can be found on USOpenCup.com. Close inspection of the Open Cup bracket will reveal that an even bigger match may await the RailHawks should they continue to advance in the Open Cup -- David Beckham's LA Galaxy are likely 4th round opponents in the RailHawks' bracket.

But first, Carolina must take care of Bavarians, who ironically were just beaten by Carolina's first round Open Cup opponent RWB Adria 2-1 in the USASA Region II final.

    LETS DO THIS!
Sorry I got excited seeing how I think we can take on the Fire, and then if the Galaxy keeps playing like they do (with Becks) we can take them too
