However, KC has gotten some good results in their last two matches, earning a draw and win in their last couple of games. But in coach Curt Onalfo's post-match comments after the win over Real Salt Lake Saturday, he made it clear that the Wizards' priority is getting ready for their match next Friday against FC Dallas. When pressed on the matter of the US Open Cup match against Carolina, which Onalfo had not even acknowledged in the post-match interview, Onalfo said they would take it "Seriously" and "try to earn 3 points" but then later stated that he expected only 1-2 starters to figure in the match Tuesday and said that it was an opportunity for his Reserves to prove they can contribute to the team.
Now that there is a CONCACAF Champions League spot on the line for the champion of the US Open Cup, I really thought we'd see MLS teams taking a much more direct approach to the Open Cup. But it seems fixture congestion and keeping a priority on league play are resulting in MLS teams trying to balance the fine line between advancement and player rest in between league matches.
One thing is for sure, even with a match against Seattle on Thursday, the RailHawks will be primed to show Onalfo what a mistake it is to look past a USL-1 side. If you cannot make it out to the match, which kicks off at 7:30pm Tuesday night at WakeMed Soccer Park, it will be broadcast free on USLLive.com

Looking past? No, the Wizards just have a packed schedule right now. With the game Saturday, this game Tuesday, and then playing again Friday, things are a little condensed. Especially if KC wins tomorrow, they'll then play next Tuesday, Thursday, AND Friday that week. For a total of 6 games in 14 days. It was bound to happen, don't take it as such an insult.
