RailHawks coach Scotty Schweitzer made an appearance on this morning's Kick This, The Soccer Sam Show in Rochester to talk about last night's dramatic draw between Carolina and the Rhinos.

Even before the show started, Rhinos new owner Rob Clark started to stir the pot, accusing Scotty of "turning around and making an obscene gesture to the fans with children sitting in front of him." Clark went on to say in the comments on Jeff Diveronica's blog: "I am going to demand that the League take some sort of action for this behavior. His comments in the paper are inexcusable as well. I am very concerned that this individual is allowed to have anything to do with this League as his behavior is ridiculous."

Clark was in the studio when Schweitzer called in. The two had a brief, but civil, tête-à-tête on the air, with Schweitzer flat out denying that made the guestures he was accused of. Then, after Scotty got off the line, Clark went on to say "he's got no credibility and he's got no class".

Interestingly, both of the other studio hosts, who lived and died through the glory years of the Rhinos franchise that Scotty played for, defended Schweitzer, and his credibility, in the discussion -- basically implying that Clark did not truly understand the history of the franchise he now owns.

There has always been a rivalry between the RailHawks and Rhinos from day one, but it sounds like these comments and accusations by Clark are going to ratchet it up a level. It might be a good idea to go ahead and mark your calendars for September 14th when the Rhinos return to WakeMed Soccer Park.

Even if you're not interested in the dispute between these two, the podcast version of this morning's show is worth the download. In particular, Schweitzer talks quite a bit about some coaching tactics that he used with Dan Antoniuk after he first arrived in Cary. Scotty admitted that it did not work out as he thought it would and talked about how they have changed what they are asking "Dizzy Dan" to do up top beginning with the game last night. If his performance in Rochester is any indication, it looks like we might be yet to see the best of Antoniuk in a RailHawks uniform.
